Preschoolers continue on the path of independence while also developing leadership skills. Preschoolers learn to help one another and respect each other, by learning to set boundaries during play. By giving them the freedom outside with multiple materials you are able to see their imagination soar.
Preschoolers are great problem-solvers. They enjoy the tasks placed in front of them whether it is figuring out the numbers for cooking, learning how colors and textures work in art, or building in the classroom.
Children at this age still learn mostly through play. We want to build upon that with academics that are built into what they are learning. Children will have goals to meet as a class as well as individual. These will include academic, social, physical, and motor skills both fine and gross. Academics will include math, pre-reading, pre-writing, and science.
Circle time takes place daily with songs, stories, and sharing to help improve social skills, enhance attention span, and for children to help plan the routine for the day. Children thrive on routine and we want to make sure we contuinue that with both verbal cues and visualizations.
