For children entering Kindergarten-4th grade, we offer select camps with both morning and afternoon sessions. Each week will have a different theme for each age group. They are broken down into K-2nd and 3rd-4th grade.
For our select camps there is a morning session from 9-12 and an afternoon session from 12:30-3:30. Those registered for both a morning and an afternoon session will eat lunch at camp from 12-12:30. There will be both morning care 8-9 and afternoon care 3:30-6 available still as well.
Our building for camp opens at 8am.
Our teachers working over the summer include many of our school year teachers as well as teachers from other schools in the area. We also love to have our middle school and high school helpers as well in our classes.
We do employ those who are in high school over the summer. We want them to gain experience in this field especially job experience as they are learning to navigate it. Those who are employed are an assistant to the teacher and are never left alone with children. They also may not work in an infant room.
Our teachers go through 24 hours of training before the summer begins. Everyone has been background checked as well as CPR and First Aid certified. We do a lot of training on food allergies and reactions.
We have many children who have food allergies. We know to change gloves, read labels, and make sure that the individual child is protected at all times. Sometimes that means certain classes won't have foods in their classrooms. All teachers are trained to use an EPI-PEN in case of an emergency. For our cooking camps we will have substitutes available for gluten, egg, and dairy allergies.
All children are served am AM snack at camp and those who are full time past 3:30 have a PM snack. We serve lots of fruits and vegetables, oatmeal, sunbather sandwiches, quesadillas, yogurt parfaits, and more. We do have all the dairy and egg substitutes should a child have an allergy. We do not serve lunch for our program.
All children enrolled in our day camp will have water play. Those enrolled in our select camps will have special designated times for water days with water slides.
During the summer, we do go outside every day. However we limit our timings to the mornings. Children will have frequent water breaks and we make sure to watch their water intake. When we have heat waves, we limit our timings outside. They will also have lots of time in shaded spaces.
The school will notify parents through the schools childcare management app, Procare. We will let you know what is going around if there is a sickness.
Parents can communicate through the childcare management app, Procare with your child's teachers as well as the director and assistant director. We also do blogs and pictures at the end of the week for each individual class.
Over the summer we commonly see, Hand Foot and Mouth, common colds, and stomach bugs. However we can't say we won't see other illnesses pop up. We have not dealt with heat exhaustion or sunburns either.
We clean and disinfect them at the end of every day. We power wash everything each week of camp as well.
Oh we have so many and love them all! We have the ice cream truck, son cone truck, petting zoo, bubble truck, foam truck, DJ for a kids party, super water slides, police car, fire truck (3s and up get to ride), mad scientist, and lots of other activities!
Our doors remain locked all day. Teachers and staff have badges and codes to be let in. We do practice our drills required by licensing including: fire, lockdown, and shelter in place.
